Junior 1st-3rd Dan (Boo-Sabum) - Belt Used If Under 18 Years Old/Same Years Minimum Time Rules Apply
1st Dan (Boo-Sabum) - 1.5 Years Minimum Time
2nd Dan (Boo-Sabum) - 2 Years Minimum Time
3rd Dan (Boo-Sabum) - 3 Years Minimum Time
4th Dan (Sabum) - 21 Years Old Minimum/4 Years Minimum Time
5th Dan (Sabum) - 5 Years Minimum Time
6th Dan (Sabum) - 6 Years Minimum Time
7th Dan (Sahyun) - 40 Years Old Minimum/7 Years Minimum Time
8th Dan (Sahyun) - 8 Years Minimum Time
9th Dan (Sasung) - 60 Years Old Minimum
Protective gear for sparring competitions has to be either red or blue. These colors are always used to identify the competitors.
Some organizations use shoulder patches; however, the most general Dobok (uniform) requirements are the following.

1st - 3rd Dan Dobok
4th - 6th Dan Dobok
