Ranking System
There are different Judo organizations throughout the world. Every organization has slight variations in their ranking system. However, the Kodokan Judo the standard ranking system is as shown below.
6th Kyu (Rokukyu)
5th Kyu (Gokyu)
4th Kyu (Yonkyu)
3rd Kyu (Sankyu)
2nd Kyu (Nikyu)
1st Kyu (Ikkyu)
1st Dan (Shodan)
2nd Dan (Nidan)
3rd Dan (Sandan)
4th Dan (Yondan)
5th Dan (Godan)
6th Dan (Rokudan)
7th Dan (Nanadan)
8th Dan (Hachidan)
9th Dan (Kudan)
10th Dan (Judan)
The Judogi (uniform) has to be either blue or white. These colors are also used always to the identify the practitioners in any competition. Only the white uniform is allowed within the Kodokan Judo Institute.
